Resources
Resource includes the energy, materials, technology, information, supplies, and productive capacity used by a company. It covers raw materials, electricity, equipment, data, procurement, inventory, manufacturing, and supply-chain management.
A viable company must secure the inputs it needs, control costs, maintain quality, and transform resources into products or services that have value in the market. Resource is the active element through which potential becomes production.
This category examines whether the business can obtain and transform its inputs effectively. The environmental and social consequences of extraction, energy use, production, and waste are explored in the Fire blog. Resource’s place within the company structure is explained in Elementary Business Alchemy.
